Artist Statement
In the painting “Primordial Ground”, a woman stands in an organic, earthy space. She is part of that space and holds in her hand the beginning of a new life form. My work is about the human need to connect with the earth.
My research is hands on, a visual and physical dialogue. I photograph, draw, and work with earth materials to find what is visually compelling to me. These works are a result of experiences acquired through much interaction with the natural world, a record of insight, renewal, and transformation. Some read as novels, taking months even years to complete. Others are rather immediate, completed in a day.
In my work, high contrast is used to convey nature’s power and strength; color to convey mood and a sense of place. My intention is to make visual my experiences connecting with the earth.

Summary of Qualifications
I am an organized, skillful educator with twenty years of teaching experience. At Wayne State University we worked in teams, where I learned the importance of being co-operative, flexible, and how to set objectives and meet them. Working as a team member we focused on the development of age appropriate curriculum, lesson plans and class room management skills. During the years I worked as a graphic designer, I learned the importance of meeting deadlines and accomplishing tasks in timely manner. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide variety of populations and as a result have become a compassionate, patient, and friendly educator who works well with children and adults.
